Angola to Permit Destroying Mosques, Ban Islamic Activities

Authorities in Angola are planning to ban Islamic activities in the Southern African country.

They are also going to permit destruction of mosques, kabyles website reports.

Angola is a country where the majority of the population (95 percent) is Christian and Muslims make up around five percent of the population.

 Authorities call Islam a sect and are seeking to ban all Islamic activities in the country.

A few months ago Muslims in the capital Luanda faced the destruction of their mosque’s minaret when they went there to say their prayers. Authorities claimed the minaret had been built without permission and that it spoiled the city’s image!

A few weeks later, a government official said the entire mosque must be destroyed as it “has turned into a place where Muslim extremists gather”.

In a latest anti-Islamic move, the country’s culture minister said on Friday that until further notice, all Islamic activities will be banned and mosques and Islamic centers will be closed.
