“”Islam Religion of Peace” Int’l Conference in Senegal

“Islam Religion of Peace” was the title of this edition of Ashura annual international conference held by Al-Muzdahir Shia Institute at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar.


According to IQNA’s branch in Africa, the program was attended by eminent figures from Kuwait, Mauritania, Guinea, Morocco, Britain, Lebanon, as well as local officials and representatives of religious sects in Senegal.



Iranian ambassador to Senegal, Iranian cultural attaché in this country, representative of Al-Mustafa International University and head of the Persian Language and Literature Department also participated at the conference.



The participants stressed the necessity of acting upon the Ahl-ul-Bayt’s (AS) teachings and getting more acquainted with the school of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) which the Holy Quran’s verses order to follow.



The Sha'an Nuzul (cause of revelation) of Ayah Tatheer (verse of purification Surah Al-Ahzab, 33) about the Household of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), was also clarified at the international program.



Addressing the conference, Sharif Heydara, head of the institute, referred to Iran's success in reaching an agreement with the West on the nuclear issues and congratulated the success to all Muslims noting that it is based on the principles of democracy and stressing the rights of nations that steps can be taken towards public peace and security.



He stressed that Islam is the religion which has introduced true democracy and permanent peace.



The Shia society of Senegal is mainly working under the supervision of the Shia institute headed by Mohammad Ali Sharif Heydara.



Organization of the annual Ashura conference has played an important role in disseminating the culture of Ashura during the recent years in this country.
