A group of 170 eminent Iraqi Quran reciters left their country on a pilgrimage trip to the holy shrines of Imam Reza (AS) and Hazrat Ma’soumeh (SA) in Iran.

According to Al-Zaman newspaper, the Quranic group comprises Qaris from Baghdad, Karbala, Babil, Maysan, Al-Nasiriyah, and Al-Diwaniyah provinces of Iraq.

The members of the group were the top Qaris in the Quranic sessions held during the holy month of Ramadan last year.

Jasim A-asadi, a supervisor of the sessions, said that the Quranic programs were organized by Dar-ol-Quran of Karbala Charity Institute to promote Quran recitation, teaching and Tajweed principles in the regions.

He added that among the awards gifted to the Qaris were a 10-day trip to Iran, a copy of the Holy Quran along with a talking pen, Quranic tableaus, copies of Mafatih-ul-Jinan, and some religious books.

The top participants in the sessions were selected by Jamal Al-Wakil, head of “Welfare and Peace” Coalition in Iraq.
