Winners of Kuwait Nat’l Quran Contest to Be Awarded

Top participants in the 17th edition of Kuwait national competition on Quran memorization and Tajweed principles will be awarded in a ceremony today, February 19.


According to Kuwait news website, Bayan Palace Theater of the country will host the ceremony with the participation of Muhammad Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar.

The winners will be awarded by Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of Kuwait.

Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak, Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Nowaf Al-Ahmad Jaber Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince and high ranking officials of the country will participate at the program.

Abdul Mohsen Jarallah Al-Kharafi, Secretary General of Kuwait Awqaf Secretariat, said that the competition was held in 2013 with 173 winners from among male and female participants.

He added that some 11 top ones were also selected from among the participants with disabilities.

Al-Kharafi also noted that most of the winners were from among the youth and teenagers and 15 participants in this group succeeded to win the total 100 grades of the competition.

The sheikh of Al-Azhar arrived in Kuwait in February 17 and had a meeting with Amir of Kuwait on February 18 in the Palace.

His three-day trip to Kuwait has been made on the invitation of the Amir.

The 17th national Quran memorization and recitation contest called “Shafa’ah” was organized in cooperation with Awqaf Secretariat in Kuwait.
