This stage of 6th edition of the contest was held at the Sultan Qaboos grand mosque earlier this week with a number of Omani and Iranian officials present at the mosque.
24 representatives from the two countries’ armed forces competed in the categories of memorization of the entire Quran, memorization of 18, 10 and 5 Juzes of the Holy Book.
The contenders took part in congregational prayers at the end of the competition.
A number of Omanis Quranic experts, including Saeed bin Rashid Al-Sawafi, Muhammad bin Salim Al-Saeedi and Abdullah al-Balushi judge the contest.
Winners will be awarded in a ceremony set to be attended by Iranian and Omani officials on Wednesday.
The preliminary stage of the 6th edition of the competition was held in Tehran in February.
The 3 top contenders in each category of the preliminary stage made it to the final round of the competition, according to the organizers.
Representatives of Iran in this competition had been selected from top Quran memorizers of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), the Ministry of Defense and the Police Force.
