Quran Reciters, Memorizers Festival Kicks off in Sudan

The 29th Festival of Quran Reciters and Memorizers in Sudan opened in Wad Madani city in the country's Al-Jazirah province earlier this week.

The festival has been organized by the city's Quranic centers with the aim of honoring Quran activists, Al-Nilin website reported.
A number of senior officials including a representative of Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir were present at the opening ceremony.
Addressing the event, Hassan Abdullah Al-Turabi, secretary general of the People's Congress Party appreciated the efforts of Quran activists and Quranic centers aimed at promoting the Quranic culture in the Sudanese society.
The Al-Jazirah province's governor general also addressed the ceremony, saying that th eprrovince is ready to provide more support for Quranic activities.
