Ramadan Quran Competition Planned in Ethiopia

On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, a Quran memorization and recitation competition will be held by Iranian Cultural Center in Ethiopia.

 Talking to IQNA, Kazem Mehrnia, Iranian cultural attaché in Ethiopia said that one of the programs of the center during the holy month is the Quran competition slated to be held on July 17-18.

Memorization of 10, 20 and 30 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran, recitation of the Quran and Tajweed principles are the various categories of the competition.
An Iranian cleric, two Ethiopian Quran experts, Sheikh Junaid and Mubarak Musa, and two top Quran reciters and memorizers of the country will be members of the jury panel of the competition.
Three top participants in each category will be awarded by the Iranian cultural center.
Some 180 individuals have so far signed up to attend the competition. The registration for the Quranic event will continue until July 16.
Majlis Al-Ulama and the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Addis Ababa will cooperate to hold the competition, the Iranian cultural attaché noted.
He added that a three-day Quran exhibition is also planned to be mounted on the sidelines of the competition.
The Iranian center will showcase precious Quran copies printed in Iran and Quranic software products at the exhibition.
A workshop on Islamic calligraphy is among the programs arranged to be held during the exhibition.
