This is according to Jafar Nekunam, academic board member of Qom University, who also told IQNA that, “We can never claim that the meaning of some Quranic verses were not understood by the Arabs in the advent of Islam and have only been revealed to man thanks to the passing of time and new scientific advances.”
“Such a claim is contrary to the loftiness of the Holy Book in terms of its accuracy and fluency; therefore, no claims can be made as to the scientific aspect of Quran’s miracles, as God was totally aware of what the Arabs needed to learn from the Divine Word and informed them through their own language.”
Asked whether the Quran has been affected by the cultural milieu of the time, he replied: “God’s knowledge is infinite but what He has stated in the Holy Book has been according to the cultural requirements and understanding level of the Arabs living then.”
“However, that does not mean that guidance has been solely devoted to the Arabs of the Revelation time. All individuals can find their remedies in the Book based on their lacks and requirements since this is the miraculous aspect of the Holy Book.”
Author of “A Survey of Quran’s Semantics” further highlighted the Quran as an all-the-time source of guidance for man, adding: “The Holy Book rejects all wrong and superstitious traditions that were practiced either by the Arabs at that time or people living at other times including ours.”
“Another proof for the Quran’s eternal guidance is that man is essentially one and the same at all times and lots of the Quranic teachings are, as a result, stable and applicable for all times and places.”
“Also, some of the lofty teachings of the Quran can be extended to all people, other than the Arabs, as overall principles that are true at any given time in history,” he went on to say.
