The prime minister also expressed hope that with the strong spirit showed by these organizations, the dream would become a reality.
"I have one dream. I want Malaysia to remain an Islamic country and let us create history by becoming the first Islamic country to achieve the status of a fully-developed nation," he said at a Federal Territories Qaryah/Religious Group Gathering with the Prime Minister here.
Najib said if Malaysia achieved the status of a fully-developed nation, the religious organizations would also progress and the government would be able to channel more allocations to empower and uplift the status of Islam.
Inadvertently, he said, it would also help the government to rule the country better and lead Malaysia towards more positive development.
"What we make from a good administration, we must give back to the people, including Islamic groups. I promise when our economy grows, the government will take a very good care of the wellbeing of these groups," he said.
During the event attended by about 5,000 members of Islamic organizations, the prime minister also commended them for their commitment and participation in the government's transformation agenda.
He also announced an allocation of RM211.6 million to bolster and uphold Islamic agenda in the Federal Territories.
The allocation includes RM157 million for the construction of mosques, surau and religious primary schools to meet the requirements of the three Federal Territories -- Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council would allocate RM20 million for the repair of mosques, surau and religious primary schools, the prime minister said.
"We hope that with this allocation, the religious community in the Federal Territories will be able to fulfill their obligations in a much better way," he said.
To ensure religious education continued to be strengthened, Najib said, RM3.78 million would be channeled as payment for teachers of Kafa and religious primary schools run by the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council.
In looking after the welfare of Muslim converts, he said, the government allocated RM19.8 million to build the Darul Hidayah Complex, while another RM5.23 million would be allocated for the upkeep of a Muslim cemetery in Kuala Lumpur.
A total of RM2.07 million would be utilized to promote activities in mosques and surau as "the heart of the community" in the Federal Territories.
To appreciate the commitment of mosque and surau administrators, he said, RM1.88 million would be paid to imam ratib as well as to bilal and noja assistants in mosque and Friday surau this year.
Najib said RM1.06 million would also be allocated to enliven the mosque and surau surrounding while RM821,100 would be paid to mosque and Friday surau committees in appreciation of their deed and contribution.
