The purpose of the resistance movement, which was established by Imam Musa Sadr in Lebanon, was responding to the Zionist regime’s aggressions, an Amal official said.
Speaking in a ceremony at Al-Marwaniya, Southern Lebanon, Khalil Hamdan who is a member of the presiding board of Amal Movement, added that Zionist aggressions left the Lebanese with only two choices: be victims or resist. “And we chose resistance,” he underlined.
Hamdan warned that neglecting the power of Lebanon, which is based on resistance, would embolden Israel to pursue its aggressive plans.
Describing Israel as a regime that seeks to deprive Lebanon of its recourses and assets, he said solidarity of the resistance movement, the Army and the nation is a natural response to Zionist threats.
Hamdan further pointed to reports about Imam Musa Sadr’s death and described the reports as unreliable.
Earlier this week, Al-Jazeerah news network quoted a Libyan official as saying that Sadr’s body has been found in a graveyard in Tajoura region.
According to Al-Jazeera, the body has been transferred to a hospital for DNA tests.
Since the start of the Libyan uprising that led to the overthrow of the Muammar Gaddafi regime, there have been conflicting reports about the fate of Imam Musa Sadr, none of which have been confirmed by Sadr’s family.
Imam Musa Sadr and two of his companions disappeared during a visit to Libya in August 1978.
