Around 10 million copies of the Holy Quran in sign language will be distributed among the hearing-impaired in Egypt.
The Yanabi-al-Hayat Society chaired by Imad Hassan Anwar will distribute the copies, Al-Yawm As-Sabi daily reported.
The plan is aimed to promote Islamic and Quranic teachings among the hearing-impaired, Anwar said.
He said the plan is carried out under the supervision of Al-Azahar University, adding that the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran has also been invited to contribute to the project.
Also, secretary general of Greece’s Muslims Society in a telephone conversation has voiced readiness to cooperate in implementing the plan.
In another step to serve the visually-impaired, Egypt’s Al-Fath satellite network has invited sign language experts to render the channel’s Islamic programs and speeches into sign language.
