Iran has precious experience in making religious, historical and ethical movies, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 31st Fajr International Film Festival, Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini added that these movies can be taken as models by other countries.
He underlined that Iran has a dignified cinema that can present its experiences to filmmakers around the world.
Dr Hosseini pointed to the growing sanctions against Iran and said despite the West’s embargos, filmmakers and cinema activists from around the world well receive the Fajr Film Festival. “This indicates the high status of Iran’s arts and cinema among the world’s artists.”
He said 110 movies were screened in the international section of the festival, showing a two-fold rise compared to the previous year.
The Culture Minister also praised the inclusion of a section to the festival special for filmmakers from the Non-Aligned Movement Countries.
He concluded by expressing hopes that the foreign guests who have learned about the Iranian culture and people will reflect the realities about Iran upon their return to their countries.
During the closing ceremony held in Tehran’s Vahdat Hall, winners of the two sections of the festival- the competition section and the Sa’adat (salvation) Cinema section) received their awards.
The international film festival is annually held on the occasion of the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.
