Lebanese Parties, Figures Condemn Assassination of Hassan Shateri

Lebanese political parties, and social and religious figures condemned the assassination of Hassan Shateri who was in charge of Iranian-financed reconstruction projects in Southern Lebanon.
Following reports about Shateri’s martyrdom, Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour paid a visit to the Iranian embassy in Beirut to extend condolences on the sad incident. He condemned the terrorist attack in which Shateri was martyred.
Deputy Head of the Higher Muslim Shi’ite Council Sheikh Abdul Amir Qabalan also slammed the attack and extended condolences to the Iranian and Lebanese nations.
He also thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for efforts to help in the reconstruction of Lebanon.
The Assembly of Jabal Amel Scholars, president of Scholars Foundation of Tyre Sheikh Ali Yasin, president of Qawlana Sunni Movement Sheikh Ahmed Qatan, and representative of Amal Movemnet also condemned the terrorist attack.
Hassan Shateri, who led Iranian-financed reconstruction projects in Southern Lebanon, was reportedly killed on Tuesday by unknown gunmen as he was traveling by road from Syria to Lebanon.
In 2006, Israel launched a war of aggression against Lebanon that lasted 33 days and devastated most of the infrastructure and buildings in southern Lebanon.
Since then, Iran has played a leading role in reconstruction efforts there.
