42 Countries Invited to Jordan Int’l Quran Competition

The Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry of Jordan has invited 42 countries to send representatives to Jordan’s International Holy Quran Competition.
Abdul Salam Al-Ibadi, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, said the 21st edition of the competition for men will be held in the holy month of Ramadan (July), Al-Amira news website reported.
He said the contest for women will be organized in June.
According to the Jordanian minister, the competition for men has different categories including Quran memorization, recitation and interpretation.
There are three categories in the women’s section, he said, namely memorization of the entire Quran, memorization of 20 consecutive Juzes (parts) and memorization of 10 consecutive Juzes of the Holy Book.
Al-Ibadi went on to say that the event aims to encourage the new generation to read and contemplate the Word of God.
