Gazans Hold Rally to Condemn Desecration of Holy Quran
Angry Gazans converged on the streets of the blockaded coastal enclave to take part in a big rally organized by Hamas and the Islamic Jihad movements.
They came out to condemn the desecration of the holy Qur'an by Israeli forces at Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds.
They joined Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haneya in the Friday sermon, where he asserted the Palestinian people's adherence to resistance against Israeli occupation.
After the Friday sermon, people marched from all mosques in the blockaded coastal enclave toward the Palestinian Legislative Council.
Earlier this week Israeli forces stormed a Qur'an recitation session in Al-Aqsa Mosque and one soldier stepped on a copy of the holy Qur'an.
The provocative act by Israeli troops drew angry reactions among Palestinians.
Israeli forces and settlers have on numerous occasions desecrated Muslim sanctities, attacked mosques and holy sites in the occupied east Jerusalem al-Quds.
