According to Moheet website, the competition will be organized by the World Association of Al-Azhar University’s Alumni in cooperation with the Council of Foreign Students of the university.
Osama Yasin, deputy head of the Alumni Association, said that the competition aims to promote Islamic and Quranic values and encourage students to take part in Quranic activities.
He added that students at different levels of education can participate in the contest, which is supervised by a group of the university’s lecturers and Quran experts.
The two-day competition will be held on memorization of the entire Quran, three-fourth of the Quran, half of the Quran and one-fourth of the Quran. The participants will also compete on Telawah and Tajweed in the recitation category.
10 top participants at each level of the memorization category will be respectively awarded 1000, 750, 500 and 250 Geneihs (Egyptian currency).
400 Geneihs will be given to 10 winners in Telawah and Tajweed recitation of the Holy Quran.
