Iraqi Mufti Slams Desecration of Hujr Ibn Adi’s Shrine

Iraq’s Sunni Mufti Sheikh Mahdi Al-Samidaei condemned the desecration of the grave of Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Companion Hujr Ibn Adi.
He said remaining silent over this act of desecration will lead to Fitna (sedition) among Muslims, inewsarabia website reported.
The Iraqi sheikh added that exhuming the grave of Sahabah (companions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is unlawful and a violation of religious rights.
Reports from Syria say Wahhabi extremists have desecrated the grave of Hujr ibn Adi near the capital, Damascus.
The militants have reportedly attacked the mausoleum and exhumed the grave of Hujr ibn Adi in the Damascus suburb of Adra, and took his remains to an unknown location.
Hujr - a close companion of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and a staunch supporter of the first Shia Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) - led the army of Muslims to victory in several crucial battles.
He and his sons finally fell victim to their loyalty Imam Ali (AS) and were murdered on the orders of the Umayyad Caliph Muawiyah in the year 660 CE.
Meanwhile, Iraq’s Shia source of emulation Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani in protest to desecration of Hujr Ibn Adi’s grave closed classes in Najaf’s Seminary on Saturday.
Iraq’s Muslim Scholars Society has also condemned the anti-Islamic act and said international organizations have a responsibility to protect religious and sacred sites belong o all faiths in Syria and other places in the world where a conflict is underway.
Lebanon’s Amal movement as another group that slammed the desecration and regarded it as part of the enemies’ plots to spread sectarian Fitna among Muslims.
