The purpose of organizing the international Quran competition is to strengthen unity among Muslims and the Quranic community director of the Quran Radio said.
Speaking to IQNA about the 30th International Holy Quran Competition recently held in Tehran, Mohammad Hossein Mohammadzadeh added that Quran contests are not venues in which one can expect to hear professional Quran recitation and see the most prominent memorizers of the Quran.
He said Iran’s international Quranic event is an attempt to showcase the progress of Quran recitation in other countries compared to the previous editions.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Mohammadzadeh pointed to the Quran Radio’s coverage of the competition, saying that the radio broadcast the competition’s activities from the opening ceremony up to the end of the awarding programs.
He noted that for the first time, the radio’s experts assessed the performance of the contestants in a special program.
He went on to say that the radio’s listeners received this program very well as it helped them have a good assessment of the performances.
Quran reciters and memorizers from over 70 countries took part in the 30th International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was held in Tehran from May 31 to June 7.
