Iranian Reciter Wins 2nd Rank in Malaysia Int’l Quran Contest

Iran’s representative bagged the second prize in Malaysia’s 55th International Holy Quran Competition.
Mohammad Mashmoul received his award at the closing ceremony held Saturday night, July 6, in Kuala Lumpur.
It was attended by Malaysia’s King Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Ibni Almarhum, other Malaysian officials and envoys from Muslim countries. Iran’s Cultural Attaché Ali Akbar Ziyaei was also present at the awarding ceremony.
In the men’s category of the competition, the Indonesian reciter was announced as the winner of the top prize while Iran’s Mohammad Mahsmoul won the second rank. Representatives of Malaysia, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Morocco, Belgium and Thailand came third to eighth, respectively.
Malaysia’s king presented the winners with cash prizes as well as certificates of honor.
Winners of the first three titles were respectively awarded 45000, 30000, and 20000 Malaysian ringgits.
56 reciters from 42 countries took part in the 55th edition of the international Quranic event, which was held in two categories for men and women.
Iranian Quran Matser Ahmad Abolghassemi accompanied Mohammad Mahsmoul in the competition as guide.
