Titled “Muslim Brotherhood, Today’s Developments, Future Challenges”, the forum was organized by the Cultural Studies Center of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization.
Abbas Khameyar, Iranian Cultural Attaché in Kuwait and Hojattollah Judaki, Iran’s former cultural attaché in Egypt addressed the program.
Mr. Khameyar described the fall of Muslim Brotherhood a tragedy and said it will have many impacts on the Islamic-political thought of Sunni Muslims.
He said that given the importance of Egypt in the Muslim world, the position of Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Azhar, and the presence of Muslim Brotherhood in many Muslim countries, this event will bring about many developments.
The expert noted however, that Morsi’s removal from power did not mean the collapse of Muslim Brotherhood, a group that has been around for 85 years as one of the most organized movements among Sunni Muslims.
Referring to the reasons behind Morsi’s ouster, he said the former Egyptian president lacked a cohesive plan for running the country, was ready to compromise, did not fulfill his promises and refused to use the potentials of other groups and parties.
He further said that the fail of Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt could lead to the rise of radical groups, return of despotic rules to Arab countries where uprisings have happened, and polarization of Arab states.
Hojattollah Judaki in his speech said that Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood failed to deliver its promises and did not act upon the teachings of the Quran and Islam.
