Their call comes in reaction to Al-Qaradawi’s insulting remarks against head of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, Al-Mujiz website reported.
Alawi Amin, an Al-Azhar scholar, said that director of the World Muslim Scholars Union Yusuf Al-Qaradawi has insulted Islam as well as Al-Azhar with his Fatwas and has interfered in the internal of affairs of many countries including Syria and Libya.
He said Al-Qaradawi’s Fatwas and statements have fanned the flames of discord in Egypt as well.
Ahmed Karima, another Al-Azhar instructor, also urged for a decisive stance against Al-Qaradawi.
He questioned Al-Qaradawi’s sincerity and asked why he does not dare issue Fatwas against government issues in Qatar or the existence of US bases in the country.
Al-Qaradawi, who lives in Qatar, has recently criticized the stances of Al-Azhar’s Sheikh vis-à-vis Egypt’s developments.
