Syrian Contender Comes 1st in Moscow Int'l Quran Competition

Final round of XIV Moscow International Quran Reciting Competition under the auspices of RMC Chairman Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation has ended in Moscow.
For two days, participants from over 30 countries have competed for the title of best hafiz (memorizer). The jury board included world-known reciters and memorizers from Turkey, Sudan, Lebanon, Iran and Russia.
Only six contestants made it to the finals: Al-Humwi Yasin (Syria), Mohammed Soliman Mohammed El-Malawani (Egypt), Mohammed Fuad Muhammed Almukla Alkarawi (Bahrain), Omar ben Arbia (Tunis), Othman al-Shaalan (Kuwait) and Ermalli Halifa Salah (Libya).
All contestants performed well and received attention of several-thousand strong multinational and multiconfessional audience and watchers of online broadcast.
The first place was won by Al-Humwi Yasin from Syria. Mohammed Soliman Mohammed El-Malawani from Egypt came second, and Ermalli Halifa Salah from Libya got the third place. Othman al-Shaalan from Kuwait got the audience award.
Winners of Moscow International Quran Reciting Competition received diplomas decorated with exclusive Egyptian crystals.
All participants were awarded with certificates and memorable gifts.
