Suicide Attack Kills Pilgrims of Imam Javad (AS)

A terrorist attack against the pilgrims of Imam Javad (AS) in Kadhamayn, Iraq, killed and wounded at least 150 pilgrims.
According to a security official, a woman wearing an explosive belt blew herself up in the middle of pilgrims who had come to visit the holy shrine of Imam Javad (AS) and mourn the martyrdom anniversary of the Imam (AS), Al-Iraq.net website reported.
The blast, which took place in Aema Bridge that connects Kadhamayn to Azamiya district of Baghdad, left scores of people dead or wounded, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
He said the number of those killed in the terrorist attack was at least 50 while some 100 pilgrims were wounded.
Also in Iraq’s northern city of Mosul, unidentified gunmen shot dead al-Sharqiya television’s correspondent, Mohammed Karim al-Badrani, and cameraman, Mohammed Ghanem, Press TV reported.
Elsewhere in the country, violence took a number of lives and caused injuries.
According to the United Nations, almost 1,000 people were killed and more than 2,000 were wounded in violence in Iraq in September, making it one of the deadliest months in recent years.
Iraq’s Interior Ministry has said that militants have launched an open war in Iraq and they want to push the Middle Eastern country into chaos.
