He made the remark in a meeting with Abbas Zaki, special envoy of Acting Palestinian Authority (PA) chief Mahmoud Abbas, adding that Syria will never abandon its principles and values despite the barbaric onslaught it is currently facing.
Al-Assad said what is going on in Syria will not change the Syrian nation’s approach to their Palestinian brothers.
He underlined that Syria will remain united against terrorist attacks that have targeted Syrians and Palestinians.
Zaki, for his part, expressed the Palestinian nation’s solidarity with Syria and said Syria has been targeted with the aim of serving the interests of the Zionist regime.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Scholars Assembly has issued a statement on the anniversary of the Tishrin (October) war, stressing that victory in this war was achieved because the armies of Syria and Egypt acted in unison against the Zionist regime over the issue of Palestine.
The assembly also urged for vigilance against the sectarian sedition and the Takfiri plots that are in line with the Zionist regime’s objectives.
The Tishrin war began on October 6, 1973 and lasted for days. The war was launched jointly by Syrian and Egyptian armies to regain Arab land illegally occupied in 1967.
