Mohammad Reza Mossayebzadeh, director general of the ministry’s Quran, Etrat and Prayers Department said that 600 Quranic centers were established in the country’ schools in the past Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2014- March 21, 2015).
He said within three years, the number will rise to 1450.
Mossayebzadeh stressed that more efforts will be made in the current year to expand Quranic activities in schools, Mizan news agency reported.
He noted that holding Quran memorization courses was among the main Quranic programs in schools last year.
The official went on to say that the students who took the courses also learned about the concepts and teachings of the verses that they memorized.
