Turkey’s Awqaf Department Gifts Qurans to Poor Countries

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Awqaf department in Turkey gifts copies of the Holy Quran to people in poor countries.

According to the website of Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), the project to send copies of the Quran to different countries is implemented through contributions by benevolent Muslims.


Esmail Balak Ughlu, an official with the department, said the project, titled “My Gift is Quran”, includes distributed free copies of the Quran in schools, dormitories, hospitals, penitentiaries, and Quran classes.


He also said there are plans to distribute Quran copies that include translations in English, Russian, Spanish, and French.


Turkey’s Awqaf department has some 1000 offices in Turkey and branches in 102 other countries.
