TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s foreign ministry spokeswoman condemned the recurrent attacks by Zionist forces and settlers against Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Marziyeh Afkham referred to the desecration of the mosque by the Zionists as an indication of the occupying regime’s aggressive nature and a violation of Palestinian people’s rights.
She also called on world countries, especially Muslim states, as well as regional and international bodies to support Palestinians and help to put an end to desecration of the holy mosque in Quds (Jerusalem).
In their latest attacks on the mosque, Israelis broke into the al-Aqsa compound and got engaged in violent clashes with Palestinians on Sunday.
Tel Aviv forces stormed the al-Aqsa compound and closed its gates after an eruption of the clashes between Palestinian Muslim worshipers and Israeli settlers.
Israeli soldiers fired sound bombs inside the compound and attacked Muslim worshipers. In response, the Palestinians threw stones at the Israeli soldiers in an effort to prevent them from storming into the complex.
Dozens of worshipers were injured and at least 6 of them were detained by Israeli forces. Many of them also suffered from suffocation due to teargas inhalation.
The move was condemned by Muslim countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as a provocative act, hurting the feelings of all Arabs and Muslims.
Israeli illegal settlers, backed by Israeli forces, frequently force their way into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, which usually ends up in clashes.
