Participants at Quarterfinal of TV Quran Competition in Algeria Selected

TEHRAN (IQNA) – 12 Quran memorizers from different provinces of Algeria will compete in the quarterfinal stage of the national Quran memorization competition, organized by Algeria’s Echorouk TV channel.

According to the echoroukonline.com website, the preliminary stage of the competition was held on February 19 with 50 participants aged under 15.

23 ones were selected to compete in the next stage from among whom 12 top Quran memorizers will represent 12 provinces of Algeria in the quarterfinal of the competition.

Sheikh Abdul Qadir Barahimi, an Algerian Quranic figure who headed the judging committee of the competition expressed surprise over the high level of the memorizers’ Quranic skills.

The Quranic event has been organized in line with Mazameer Davoud Program of the channel for the children of the country with the aim of identifying the Quranic talents among the younger generation.

The preliminary stage was held with the presence of Seyyed Ali Fudhail, director general of Echorouk Institute in Algeria, under the supervision of Rashid Fudhail, Algerian media activist and Ridhvan Hussein, famous producer of religious programs, was the executor of the TV competition.

Ridhvan Hussein said that the 50 participants were selected from among hundreds of children who sent applications to attend the competition. They were asked to email an audio file of their Tarteel recitation of Surah Al-Zuha to the channel, he added.

It was the third Quran competition organized by the institute. "Al-Mahir bi Al-Quran” and "Sunnah Al-Mustafa (PBUH)” were the two other Quran competitions that the institute respectively held in the holy month of Ramadan 2014 and on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
