
Speaking to IQNA, Abu Bakr Muhammad Omar, who is competition in the category of memorization, said the great Quranic event convenes Quran reciters, memorizers and experts from different parts of the world and provides a venue for promoting Muslim unity.
He added that the Holy Quran, which is the Divine book of Islam, is the pivot of unity in the Mualim Ummah.
Elsewhere, asked about Quranic activities in his country, he said various Quranic programs are held in Tanzania, a Muslim majority-country in Eastern Africa, including Tanzania’s international Quran competition.
Tanzania’s representative in the category of recitation also spoke to IQNA, saying that the Qaris taking part in this edition of the contest are skillful and competent.
Raja Ayub described the level of the competition as high and said the event is well-organized.
The 33rd edition of Iran’s international Quran contest is underway at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla 9prayer hall) in Tehran and will run until Tuesday.
Nearly 130 Qaris and Quran memorizers from over 70 countries are taking part in this year’s contest, whose motto is "One Book, One Ummah”.
