TEHRAN (IQNA) – The panel of judges of Iran’s 33rd International Quran Competition released the names of the finalists in the two categories of the contest.

According to the panel, 57 memorizers competed in the memorization category and the following contenders made it to the final round:


Mohammad Ali Abdullah from Australia

Mojtaba Fard Fani from the Islamic Republic of Iran

Abdul Aziz Ahmed from Egypt

Muhammad Tahir Hassan from Nigeria

Muhammad Sharif from Bangladesh

Abdullah Yusuf from Kenya

Khalid Sankari from Ivory Coast


In the category of recitation, too, there were 57 Qaris, seven of whom qualified for the final stage:


Mohammad Javid Akbari from Afghanistan

Syed Abbas Ali from Germany

Hamed Valizadeh from Iran

Bahreddin Saeid from Indonesia

Abdullah Qassu from Morocco

Rajayi Ayub from Tanzania


The international Quranic contest, which is underway at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall), will run until Tuesday.

Finalists of Iran’s Int’l Quran Contest Announced


The motto of this year’s edition of the competition is "One Book, One Ummah”.

Representatives of more than 70 countries have taken part in the contest.
