
Majid Zakilu, who has travelled to the West African country at the invitation of Senegal’s National Quranic Schools Association, attended a Quran recitation session at the mosque.
Over a thousand Quranic and cultural figures and students of Quranic centers of the country took part at the session.
Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Senegal, Seyed Hassan Esmati, and director of Senegal’s National Quranic Schools Association were also present at the Quranic event.
Zakilu’s Quran recitation was warmly welcomed by the audience at the mosque.
In a speech after his recitation, the Iranian Qari voiced readiness to help promote Quranic relations between the two countries.
Senegal is a country on Africa’s west coast. Islam is the predominant religion in the country. 92 percent of Senegal’s population is estimated to be Muslim.
Islam has had a presence in Senegal since 11th century C.E.
