Iran’s Nat’l Quran Competition Underway in Northern Province
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Winners of several categories the 39th edition of Iran’s national Quran competition which is underway in the northern province of Gilan were awarded.
In a ceremony held Monday night, the top participants in the categories of eulogy recitation and supplication recitation were announced and awarded.
Competitions continue in other categories for a few more days.
The contest began on Sunday in Zibakenar, with the participation of 750 Quran activists, 450 men and 300 women.
The categories of the Quranic event also include Tarteel and Tahghigh recitation of the Quran, memorization, and Adhan (call to prayers).
A number of top Quran masters of the country make up the competition’s panel of judges.
Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually holds the contest to promote Quranic activities and memorization and recitation of the Holy Book is society, especially among the youth.
