Born in 1960, Salim bin Khalfan al-Balushi mastered Arabic calligraphy in Egypt and had been teaching the art in Oman since 1992.
He spent 12 years to calligraph the national Mus’haf of Oman, which was unveiled in June this year.
The handwritten Quran measures 75 by 55 and weighs 25 kilograms.
Its cover is made of parchment and has been embellished with gold and silver.
It also has a wooden case measuring 1.5 meters in length.
Oman’s Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs ublished the copy and distributed it among mosques around the country as well as in other countries.
