According to al-Shahed website, the ministry said the competition, known as the Kuwait Quran Prize, will be held in Kuwait City’s Sheraton Hotel on April 13-19.
Participants from 79 countries will compete in the categories
of memorization and Tahghigh and Tajweed recitation of the Quran, it added.
Walid al-Ammar, a ministry official, said the competition is
aimed at encouraging memorization of the Quran, introducing top Qairs and
memorizers in the Muslim world, and enhancing Quranic values.
He added that different committees have been set up for best
organizing the 8th edition of the competition.
The Islamic Republic of Iran will have two representatives
in the recitation and memorization categories of the contest.
