TEHRAN (IQNA) – More than 800 foreign journalists will be in Saudi Arabia later this month to cover the Hajj rituals, an official said.

Saudi Minister of Media Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad on Thursday said more than 800 foreign media representatives have been invited by the Kingdom to cover Hajj events, Anadolu Agency reported.

He said his ministry has completed preparations to host all local, international audiovisual and written media.

The ministry has been equipped with all state-of-the-art devices to facilitate the broadcast of the Hajj to the world and demonstrate the great effort Saudi authorities and people are exerting to take care of the pilgrims, the minister said.

Hajj is an annual pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest city in Islam.

It is regarded as one of the pillars of Islam and the largest act of mass pilgrimage in the world.

The holy pilgrimage is also a demonstration of Muslims’ unity and their submission to Allah.

Every able-bodied Muslim is obliged to perform the pilgrimage at least once in his or her lifetime.
