TEHRAN (IQNA) – Kuwait plans to hold online Quran memorization courses as Quranic classes have been suspended amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The Arab country’s Awqaf Ministry will organize the courses, menafn website reported.

Fahd al-Jinfawi, the ministry’s Quranic Affairs and Islamic Studies deputy, said the move has been planned following measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

He said the courses will help students benefit from their free time as schools have been shut across the country.

Al-Jinfawi urged all school students to register for the courses at the ministry’s website.

Kuwait on Tuesday reported two more coronavirus infections, taking the total to 191.

More than 387,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 globally, and the death toll has exceeded 16,700.
