Speaking in a telephone conversation with Morocco’s Prime Minister Saad-Eddine El Othmani, Haniyeh stressed the need for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take immediate action to thwart the Israeli plot.
He asked El Othmani to convey the message to Moroccan King Muhammad XI who heads the Quds Committee of OIC.
The Hamas official also underlined that the Palestinian nation will continue their resistance against occupation and their efforts to protect Quds.
During the conversation, the two sides also discussed the health situation in the besieged Gaza Strip amid the coronavirus outbreak.
On Saturday, Palestinian Fatah party’s Vice President Mahmoud al-Aloul said it is in contact with world powers to prevent Israel from advancing its plan to annex parts of the West Bank.
“The ongoing contact is aimed at pressuring Israel not to take such a step,” he said.
Al-Aloul told reporters that the Zionist regime’s attempt to annex parts of the occupied territory “in coordination with the US administration is the peak of racism and opportunism” in light of the world’s occupation with the COVID-19 pandemic.
