TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center gave its green light for Quran memorization centers to open their doors again after several months.

Al-Azhar said in a statement that the Quranic centers are allowed to resume their activities on the condition that the health protocols are fully observed, vetogate.com reported.

The health recommendations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus includes wearing masks, maintaining social distancing between students and using disinfectants at the centers.

The activities of the centers will be monitored to ensure the health protocols are implemented, the statement added.

Quranic activities and many other religious and cultural programs have been suspended in Egypt since March as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

More than 33 million people have tested positive for the coronavirus worldwide and over one million have died from the disease so far.
