TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Awqaf and Religious Affairs Ministry in the Gaza Strip said mosques will reopen in the coastal enclave on Sunday.

The ministry said in a statement that the places of worship will host congregational prayers, including Friday prayers, after reopening, Maan news agency reported.

They will operate under the health protocol, the statement underlined, urging worshippers to fully observe the protocols, including the need to maintain social distancing and wear masks.

People with chronic diseases, people with respiratory diseases and weak immunity, and women and children are not allowed to go mosques for the time being.

Mosques will open ten minutes before the start of prayers and close ten minutes after prayers conclude, the ministry said.

The Gaza government imposed a lockdown in Gaza on Aug. 24 to help stem the virus outbreak, but the authorities began to ease the restrictions in some neighborhoods in recent weeks.
