TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Dar-ol-Quran Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine has been organizing Quranic programs for those taking part in the Arbaeen march.

Among them are Quranic circles held by the center’s branch in the Babylon Governorate in central Iraq.

Sayyid Maad al-Yasseri, head of the branch, said that it has seized the opportunity given the passage of a large number of pilgrims to hold Quranic activities during the Arbaeen season.

He said the Quranic programs have been attended by a large number of pilgrims as well as clerics, Mubalighs (propagators) and others.

The programs include recitation of Quran, answering questions on Quranic issues and speeches featuring Quranic teachings delivered by scholars and representatives of Iraqi sources of emulation, he added.

Arbaeen, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to the Iraqi city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.

The day of Arbaeen falls on Thursday, October 8, this year.
