TEHRAN (IQNA) – Ali Akbar Velayati, an international adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, stressed that the resistance front has the upper hand in the Middle East region.

Speaking in a Tuesday meeting in Tehran with Secretary General of Iraq’s al-Nujaba Movement Sheikh Akram al-Kaabi, Velayati also highlighted the religious and cultural commonalities between Iran and Iraq and hailed the “brotherly” ties between the two countries.

He described Iraq as the “most powerful” Arab country and said the US plot to split up the country is a nonstarter.

The future of Iraq is in the hands of the Iraqi people, he underlined.

Velayati also hailed the Iraqi parliament’s bill calling for the expulsion of the US troops from the country, stressing that the American troops have no other options than leaving Iraq because this is what the Iraqi people want.

Elsewhere in his remark, Velayati, who is also the Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, decried the cooperation of the Saudi and Emirati regimes with the Zionsit regime of Israel and said it is a sign of their weakness and decline.

Sheikh al-Kaabi arrived in Tehran on Monday to hold meetings with Iran’s top political and military officials.
