Qom-Based University Goes International

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Baqir al-Olum University, based in Iran’s holy city of Qom, has become an international university.

 

The Ministry of Science, Research and Technology granted the license to the higher education center to admit foreign students.

Baqir al-Olum University is a seminary, educational, and scientific foundation established in 1984, under the title of Baqir al-Olum Institute, to promote seminary students’ level of political knowledge with regard to the Islamic world, Iran, and international relations, according to its website.

Due to the necessity of expanding educational activities concerning Islamic and human sciences and of training seminary school students, Baqir al-Olum Institute was raised to the status of a university in 2005.

Baqir al-Olum University is part of the Bureau of Islamic Propagation which was founded to prepare the ground for promoting religious propagation, research, expanding and producing religious knowledge, reconstructing Islamic sciences to meet the scientific, cultural, and religious needs of the Iranian society.
