Mohammadreza Dashti Ardakani made the remarks on Monday while addressing the 5th International Health Congress of Islamic Countries underway in IRIB International Conference Center, Tehran.

Representatives from private companies and foreign countries have participated in the international event in the Iranian capital.

Dashti, who is chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s tourism and cultural heritage fraction, said Iran enjoys high-quality medical equipment and services that medical tourists can visit at low prices.

Tourism is among the easiest paths for establishing political, economic, and security stability, he said, naming European countries that managed to set foot on this path after World War II as an example.

The lawmaker went on to call Muslim states to expand the tourism industry as they share common cultures.

Proposing the removal of the visa requirements for medical tourists in Islamic countries, he added that the measure will strengthen relations between Muslims and neighboring states. “Of course, the ultimate goal requires time and money, but the path we are taking is in line with the political, social, and cultural development of the region.”
