“Mosques have individual and social functions, and in addition to human self-improvement and communication with God in the mosque, the social relations of Muslims are also formed in mosques,” he said during a visit to the Grand Mosque of Moscow on Thursday at the invitation of Rawil Gaynutdin, the Chairman of the Russian Mufti Council.

“What exists today in the world of corruption and immorality is a proof that man has forgotten God today,” he said in his speech during the visit.

“Seventy years of oppression and crime against the Palestinian people and more than 20 years of killing the people of Afghanistan are the result of a policy without spirituality and morality,” the Iranian president further said.

Referring to the importance of spirituality for Muslims Raeisi stated, “The Takfiris’ crimes in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen are committed under the banner of Islam, while this is done with the plan and support of the United States and the Zionists”.

He described one of the important functions of mosques in the world of Islam as enlightenment and preventing the growth of Takfiri groups, and said, “The secret of being a Muslim is to build oneself and be accountable to others”.

Referring to his meeting a day earlier with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the Iranian president said, “We had common views on many issues and both countries seek to enhance the level of bilateral cooperation.”
