Quran Award Winners Honored in UAE’s Sharjah

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The closing ceremony of the 23rd and 24th editions of the Sharjah Award for the Noble Quran and the Prophet's Sunnah was held at Al Qasimia University in the UAE city on Wednesday.

The competition organized by the Sharjah Establishment for Al Quran Al Kareem and Al Sunnah Al Nabawiyyah.

Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, witnessed Wednesday morning, ,.

Following rendition of the national anthem and recitation from the Holy Quran, Sultan Matar bin Dalmouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Establishment for Al Quran Al Kareem and Al Sunnah Al Nabawiyyah, gave a speech in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah, for his presence and honoring the ceremony and the winners.

He reviewed the Establishment's activities, events, and the various awards that it is preparing, supervising and organizing for several categories and sectors, such as male and female students, staff and others.

The number of participants in the award’s two editions’ various categories reached approximately 2,500 male and female contestants, 250 of whom won, while the number of those who fully memorized the Holy Quran reached 768 during 2020-2021; 193 of them passed the test, he said.

After that, the audience watched a visual presentation that highlighted the mission and work of the Establishment and its efforts in establishing and organizing competitions for the memorization of the Holy Quran, in addition to the award’s various activities and events.

For his part, Dr. Aziz Farhan Al Anzii, Chairman of the Jury of the award, delivered a speech in which he hailed efforts to facilitate the memorization of the holy Quran and the honorable Sunnah, urging members of the community to continue to study and memorize the Quran and the Sunnah.

He congratulated the winners and their parents for their support of their children to memorize the Quran.

Then, Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman honored the winners of the twenty-third and twenty-fourth cycles, and presented them with shields and certificates of appreciation.

At the close of the ceremony, Sheikh Salem presented commemorative shields to each of the sponsors and personalities who support the award from public and private institutions and media agencies.

Several officials, parents of winners and scholars attended the honoring ceremony.
