TEHRAN (IQNA) – A few stations of Tehran Metro will host Quranic programs this Ramadan.

According to Saeed Gol-Andami, head of Metro’s cultural center, a number of programs will be held to mark the blessed month of Ramadan in five stations.

The programs include Quran reading sessions with teenage qaris and congregational prayers.

The programs start half an hour before Zhur Adhan from today and will go through for 10 days.

Valiasr, Shahid Beheshti, Imam Khomeini, Theatr-E Shahr, and Darvazeh Shemiran have been named as the hosts of the programs.

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity-giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.

They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.
