Quranic Competition for Students Wraps Up in Uganda

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quranic competition for school and university students in Uganda wrapped up by awarding the winners.

Organized by the al-Mustafa International University's branch in Uganda and the Iranian cultural center in the county, the competition’s stages were held during the months of Rajab and Ramadan.

Students from 40 colleges across the African country participated in the contest.

The categories of the competition included Tahqiq and Tarteel recitation, memorization of 10, 20, and 30 Juzes (parts), and interpretation of Surah Al-Hujurat according to Tafsir Al-Mizan.

The closing ceremony was held with the participation of senior academic officials as well as the Iranian ambassador and cultural attaché in Uganda.

Addressing the ceremony, Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Salehi appreciated the efforts of the organizers of the event while also lauding the Ugandan government for protecting religious freedom.

Al-Mustafa International University is a religious and Islamic university established to expand and introduce Islamic and religious teachings to the world through modern facilities and technologies.

It is a scholarly and educational institution that like other such institutions strives to develop thought and help society and humanity.

It is known internationally and has trained many prominent scholars and researchers.
