TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s Noor (light) Quranic Convoy has started holding Quranic circles in Medina for pilgrims.

One of the sessions was held this Wednesday in a hotel in Medina with dozens of Iranian pilgrims in attendance. Iran's internatioal qari Qassem Raziei recited some verses at this session.

Selected Quran reciters, memorizers and Tawasheeh groups from Iran are sent to Saudi Arabia during Hajj annually to perform Quranic programs in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

The 20-strong convoy in this year includes Quran masters, qaris, and memorizers as well as a Tawasheeh (religious singing) group.

Qassem Raziei is the head of the convoy and the other members are Qassem Moqaddami from Khuzestan, Masoud Nouri from Tehran, Seyed Hamid Reza Moqaddasi from Qom, Hadi Movahed Amin from Tehran, Amir Hossein Rahmati from Golestan, Ali Reza Bijani from Razavi Khorasan, Mojtaba Parvizi from Tehran, Mehdi Karami from Zanjan, Mehdi Saadati Kia from Lorestan, Hamid Haqtalab from Razavi Khorasan, Ali Reza Makkari from Isfahan, Seyed Mohammad Tahaei from Mazandaran, Yusef Jafarzadeh from Hormozgan, and Reza Golshahi from Razavi Khorasan.

The committee selected the members in coordination with the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization and the Office of Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s Representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs.

The members of the delegation hold Quranic programs, including Quran recitation sessions for the pilgrims.

Every year millions of Muslims from around the world gather in Mecca for the annual Hajj.

This year, foreign pilgrims will attend Hajj for the first time after two years, after they were barred from traveling to Saudi Arabia due to the coronavirus outbreak.
