TEHRAN (IQNA) – There are numerous verses in the Quran that stress the need to actually do what is said; this emphasis shows that a believer should fulfill his/her promises and implement recommendations that he/she makes to others.

It may have happened to us that we seriously promise to do something but when it comes to its implementation, we see that we cannot carry that out and there is a wide gap between one’s words and actions.

It is necessary to test ourselves and study various aspects before promising or saying something.

When people see that we fail to honor our promises, they will lose their trust, and hence, it is necessary to be more cautious on this issue.

“Believers, why do you say what you never do? It is most hateful to Allah that you should say that which you do not do.” (Surah As-Saff, verses 2-3)

Some people may make promises or remarks but fail to carry them out. This can also be traced historically. A group of Muslims in early Islam said that they would not flee if a war erupts but when the next war started they escaped.

Or in another instance, some people were claiming to be in pursuit of the best action but when a jihad decree was issued, they failed to honor their promise. This is a major flaw for those who claim to believe in Islamic principles.
