Kuala Lumpur (IQNA) – Some of the contenders on the fourth night of Malaysia’s 62nd international Quran competition had very good performances, adding to the excitement as the contest draws to close.

Malaysia International Al-Quran Recital and Memorization Assembly

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) hall was the most crowded on Saturday night given that Malaysia’s female representative was among those set to go on to the stage.

Like previous nights, eight qaris recited verses from the Holy Quran, doing their best to have as good a performance as they can, vying for the top prize in the competition.

The reciters of the fourth night were men from Bahrain, Singapore, Iraq, Mauritania and Pakistan and women from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Malaysia.

The program began with a welcome to participants in English, Malay and Arabic, followed by religious songs.

Then it was the turn for the Bagladeshi qari to recite verses from Surah Al Imran.

Next, Samir Mohammad Mujahid from Bahrain performed his recitation. He told IQNA earlier that he hopes to have a better performance than those already seen in the competition.

Nosratollah Hosseini, an Iranian Quran master who is accompanying Iran’s representative in the contest as a guide, told IQNA that the Bahraini qari had a beautiful voice and his recitation had a spiritual feeling although there were some problems in his tempo.

After recitations by Maryam Hashemi from Afghanistan and Muhammad Saeed Abdullah Latif from Singapore, there was a break, during which Tawasheeh songs were performed.

Then Sabah Khalaf Ali from Iraq, Puan Sufiza from the host country, Edgi Omar Sayed Ahmed from Mauritania and Seyed Sajjad Hussein from Pakistan performed their recitation, all of whom displayed a good performance.
